Future Friday: The Two NFL Division Winners I Have Already Bet
What’s going on guys! It’s been a while since I have posted on here. Last you saw me we were cashing that under in the great national championship game between UNC and Kansas. Some of you may be wondering why the posts have slowed down, so allow me to explain.
Truth be told, I am not really an NBA guy. Will I bet on it occasionally? Of course, don’t we all bet on stuff occasionally? Sure, I will also bet on Major League Baseball but neither of those sports evoke the same passion out of me that college football/basketball and pro football do. If you do want to see when I MLB and NBA you can follow my action network HERE. But like I said official newsletter posts will not be made about those bets.
Now that we have gotten through spring games in college football and Day 1 of the NFL draft, I have started to place futures for football. Those posts will be coming out on Fridays throughout the off-season as we lead up to the season, which will be here before you know it. So far I have placed 4 futures in college football and 2 futures in the NFL. If you want to see how I did on last season’s futures you can check both Action Network and this post from last year. This Friday I figured I would start with the NFL and next week we can discuss college football. The college football futures once win totals come out will become quite the extensive list. Let’s get into it.
Philadelphia Eagles +275 to win NFC East (Draft Kings)
The last time the NFC East had a repeat champion was in 2004 when the Philadelphia Eagles did it. I know there are still 6 rounds left in the NFL Draft but have the Cowboys gotten better this off-season? They let Amari Cooper and La’el Collins walk and are attempting to bring in a rookie to replace him. After a weak showing in the playoffs last year this is not really an inspiring off-season for a team that now has to play a first place schedule.
For the Eagles they will come into this season exponentially better on both sides of the ball. Obviously last night they land AJ Brown to line up opposite of Devonta Smith but they also brought in Haason Reddick to fortify the pass rush and drafted a game wrecker in Jordan Davis who was one of my favorite players in college football a season ago. Having a defensive tackle rotation of Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, and Jordan Davis will be a handful for opposing offensive lines. All of this has been added to a team that won 9 games a season ago and returns arguably the best offensive line in the NFL. Oh, and not one team on the Philly’s schedule won a playoff game last season. There is no reason this team can’t win 10 games and finish the season separated by one game with Dallas. At a price of +275 I will take my chances with an Eagles progression while Dallas takes a step back to finish a game ahead for the NFC East crown.
Baltimore Ravens +225 to win AFC North (Draft Kings)
For my money the Ravens are the most well run team in the league. They draft Hollywood Brown and after three years of a rookie salary they trade him for a first rounder to secure a Rockstar center in Tyler Linderbaum. They also added a player in Kyle Hamilton that could end his career as the best player from this draft. Is the receiving corps weak? It’s not great I will admit that. But Mark Andrews has turned into one of the best pass catching tight ends in the league and we know they will run the ball as well as anyone in the league. The Ravens had the second most injuries in the NFL a season ago (behind the Giants) and still managed to win 8 games. It felt like they played with nothing but reserves defensively, Lamar Jackson missed 5 games, and they lost two games on two-point conversion (to Green Bay and Pittsburgh). Do you know how unlucky of a season that is? And they still won 8 games? That may have been John Harbaugh’s most impressive coaching job he is insanely talented. The pendulum is due to swing back there way, and I am going to be there for it.
‘The Steelers are working with a new quarterback, who knows if Deshaun Watson plays, and the Bengals are prime for a Super Bowl hangover. I love the Ravens chances to get back to the top of this division at +225.
Next week I will be breaking out the CFB futures I have already bet, and may even preview my favorite week 1 games.
