Future Friday: What I Have Placed This Week in NFL and College Football
First NBA newsletter cashed with relatively no sweat as the Mavs-Warriors went under 214.5. I will continue to monitor the market and if there is anything I like, you guys will know about it.
Before you know it we will be be staring he football season in the face. The NFL schedule has been released and we are starting to see college football win totals hitting popular sportsbooks such as Fanduel and Barstool. Each week that I place a future I will do a write up for you guys on the following Friday. If you want to see my futures and other bets placed in real time, you can follow me on my Action Network HERE.
NFL Futures This Week
Colts -105 AFC South Champs (BET MGM)
Only one NFL future for me this week. We are now up to three NFL futures as I have already done a write up on why you should bet the Eagles and Ravens to win their divisions. The Colts, like the Eagles, are in a division that is essentially a two team race. The Texans are still a year away from being a year away and the Jaguars are headed in the right direction with Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence built are not quite there yet. I am comfortable saying they won’t be the worst team in the NFL, so that’s a start. The Colts have the best defense and the best defense and the best quarterback in the division. I think Matt Ryan is going to look really good with a the roster that the Colts have around him. Despite being surrounded by the worst roster in football in Atlanta last year he still managed to look like one of the more trustworthy signal callers in the league. Opposing defenses should respect him more than Carson Wentz which will make Jonathan Taylor even more dangerous out of the backfield. As far as the Titans go I think they are going to take a step back. They traded AJ Brown which will make a mediocre pass offense worse, and they drafted Malik Willis which tells us what we already knew, which is that Ryan Tannehill isn’t that good. Between a QB upgrade, a rebound from a disappointing season, and their biggest threat taking a step back, I like the Colts here to take the division title.
College Football
So there are two futures I placed immediately after the national championship game between Georgia and Alabama this year. Alabama +250 and Ohio State +800 to win the national championship. You can still get Alabama around +200 and the best Ohio State value I see out there is on Bet MGM at +600. I can’t envision a scenario in which neither of these teams win the national championship. These two are in a tier of their own so I would advise betting these futures in a way that you make money regardless of who wins in the end. Now for the futures that I have taken since January.
TreVeyon Henderson +8000 Heisman (Fanduel)
This Ohio State offense is going to be electrifying this year and will put up a ton of points. So yes, adding their featured back at 80/1 is value I cannot pass up. Yes, this has basically turned into a quarterback award (with a few exceptions) but if you are going to give me these odds on a guy that can go for 20+ touchdowns and be a finalist I will take that every day.
Jahmyr Gibbs +6000 Heisman (Draft Kings)
Everything I just said about Henderson applies here. Gibbs is the featured back in what should be a great Crimson Tide offense. Add in that he is a transfer from Georgia Tech so he has college experience as a featured back. If Saban liked what he saw in him I can’t pass up 60/1.
Pittsburgh Panthers over 7.5 wins -140 (Fanduel)
I don’t care that they lost Jordan Addison, this is a team that has top 15 talent in the country. I still believe in Kedon Slovis despite him being benched last season for USC and think he can have a career renaissance type season for the Panthers. Pitt avoids NC State, Wake Forest, and Clemson in their conference schedule this year, so if they finish 7-5 it would be an unmitigated disaster. This is a program that is trending up and is still underrated by the sports books
Ohio State over 10.5 wins -195 (Fanduel)
Yes, I know it is 1/2 so if you don’t want to do it I get it. However, I think this is free money. I don’t see a game on their schedule in which they won’t be favored by double digits. Therefore, I can’t see them losing twice. I wouldn’t place a bet with these odds unless I think it cannot lose. This Buckeyes team is as hungry to bounce back from 2021 as any team in the country and may have the most talented roster. Two regular season losses would be a tremendous shock and disaster in Columbus.
Football season can’t come soon enough and like I said above, I will be updating you guys when I place a future as we lead up to the season. Stay on the lookout for any NBA plays I may add as the season winds down as well. If you like these newsletters make sure to share with a friend below. Let’s make some dough.
