NFL Week 8: Colts Make AFC South Interesting
This should be a very fun week in the NFL. After the last two weeks, mainly week 7, where we experienced “bye-mageddon” as the Cowboys, Chargers, Bills, Steelers, Vikings, and Jaguars were all on bye. You know what, we deserve it! As always I’ll bring you my top three plays of the week. I don’t have much to say here in the intro, I am just excited to bring everyone some winners and make some money.
Play of the week #1: Colts -2.5 vs. Titans
These two teams already played in Nashville where the Titans took care of business as Carson Wentz was battling two sprained ankles. Since then the Colts have been much improved. The Colts have won three of their last four, and should really have won four straight if they didn’t blow a 22-3 lead to Baltimore on Monday Night Football. Carson Wentz has rounded into form and I have been very impressed by their defense, running game, and now they get All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson back. Why I like the Colts here is a couple of reasons. The first has to do with Tennessee. The Titans are coming off of two emotional wins against the Bills and Kansas City. They are due for a regression as everything went right for them the past two games. I am still very worried about their secondary which has been absurdly banged up. Their defense ranks 27th in passing yards, 22nd in first downs, and 24th in yards per play. For the Colts, desperation plays a factor here. If you fall to 3-5 and get swept by the Titans you are basically out of the AFC South race halfway through the season. That just can’t happen. With the Colts surging and the Titans looking to regress, I think the Colts pull out a win here to make this division a lot more interesting.
Play of the week #2: Eagles -3.5 @ Detroit Lions
This pick is gross to be quite honest with you. I hate laying points with bad teams on the road. However, the truth is the Eagles so far have taken care of bad teams and have been exposed by good teams. Their wins have been against Atlanta and Carolina while their losses have been to Tampa Bay, Kansas City, Dallas, and Oakland. The Eagles have the talent advantage on both sides of the ball and should find success against a Detroit team that ranks near the bottom of the league in all defensive categories. I believe the Eagles should control both lines in this game and get a win somewhere in the 24-20 area. The Lions are a very public underdog which is something you typically don’t want to bet on. I will take the Eagles in this one as the Lions continue to search for that first win.
Play of the week #3: 1H Under 24 Buccaneers @ Saints
If the Saints want to win it has to be ugly. This Bucs team has not been as strong on the road losing to the Rams and scoring 19 in a win at New England. The Saints offense is so dreadful and dependent on running the ball that they are going to try to control the game with long drives getting into the double digits of plays on each drive. That is just what they have to do to win in this one. Both defenses, I believe, are some of the best in the NFC and it should be a “slobber-knocker” as the great Jim Ross would say. This is a get in and get out pick as we just don’t need to mess around with the full game for the win here. Really love the first half under in this.
If you like the picks make sure to share with a friend! Also feel free to comment I love interacting with the readers. You can also follow me on my Action Network HERE to see how I bet throughout the week. For example, I was lucky to get the Bengals at -8.5 on Tuesday and (as of writing this) the spread is up to 11 which I do not like as much. Let’s make some dough folks.
