NFL Week 9: Let's Continue to Fade Kansas City
To wrap up last week I cannot believe we didn’t go 3-0. Eagles -3.5 and the NO-TB 1H U 24 hit, and then Carson Wentz did everything in his power to fuck us. How do you blow a 14 point lead at home? How do you turn the ball over on your first pass in overtime? No matter, we collect are 2-1 and keep it moving. Now sitting at 15-10 for the subscribers in the NFL, I have three more plays that I am liking this week to keep the money train moving.
Play of the week #1: Green Bay Packers +7 @ Kansas City
You know what makes me sick? I took the Packers at +2.5 and took their money line right after MNF concluded this week. Of course, we know what happened next. Call me crazy, but I think the Packers can still win this game. At some points the Chiefs just are who they are. They are a team with a terrible defense and an offense that can’t hit big plays because opposing defenses won’t allow them to. The longer their drives go, it seems, the more likely it is to end in a turnover. Who knows what we get with Jordan Love, but he was a first round pick and the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers. If he limits mistakes why can’t they win? He has a full compliment of weapons and the defense has played very well recently. If Daniel Jones and the hapless Giants can play the Chiefs to a 3 point game, why can’t the Packers? This line feels like a severe overreaction to the Rodgers news and I like playing overreactions.
Play of the week #2: Atlanta Falcons +6.5 @ New Orleans
The Saints are a win-ugly team and this is a rivalry game. Considering the low total of 41.5, I will take my chances in the Falcons keeping it within the number here, just a simple math play. I also like the fact that Atlanta is coming off of a loss and the Saints are coming off of a very emotional win over Tampa Bay. They can’t possibly get up the same way and play at the same level they did a week ago so I see some regression here coming from New Orleans. I can see this being a 24-20, 24-21 game either way in this one. The stylistic matchup, low total, and rivalry aspect does not lend itself to a blow out scenario.
Play of the week #3: Vikings +6 @ Baltimore
Like I said above I like betting against overreactions. There is no more public viewing experience than Monday Night football, and the Vikings just laid an absolute egg on national television against Cooper Rush. The Vikings tend to play in close games and to the level of their competition. Another team that does that is the Baltimore Ravens. When favored by more than 3 this season the Ravens are 0-3 ATS. I think the Vikings bounce back this week to compete in this one. I do not think that they win the game, but they can certainly take advantage of the Ravens defense both through the air and on the ground in this one to give them a scare.
